What is Biblical counseling?

Biblical

The Bible offers foundational truth that brings hope and transforms lives at a heart level. Your counselor will help you apply the gospel to your struggles so that you can understand God’s redemptive purposes for your life.

Certified

Our counselors have formal education and are professionally trained in Counseling and the Bible. No techniques, formats, or formulas will provide the lasting change that the Spirit provides.

Clinical

We value professional clinical training and evidence-based counseling practices. Psychological insight and clinical tools are thoughtfully integrated to provide wise, ethical, and comprehensive care that honors both faith and sound mental health.

Relational

You are not meant to walk alone. Our counselors demonstrate God’s gracious pursuit of you in relationship: listening and walking alongside you with encouragement and understanding.

Prayer

“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

“I underestimated how hard it would be adjusting to the death of a loved one. With Jacqui’s help, I was able to better walk with the LORD through that difficult time.”

FAQs

  • Many clients at Fortitude Counseling choose to pay privately. We are a private-pay practice and do not bill insurance companies directly. Some clients also use HSA or FSA (Health Savings or Flexible Spending Accounts) to pay for sessions.

If cost is a barrier, we encourage you to first reach out to your church or faith community for potential financial assistance. If support is not available through them, please let us know—we’re happy to explore other options together.

Our goal is to keep therapy as accessible as possible. We offer a limited number of sliding-scale spots and strive to meet each person where they are, both financially and emotionally. We’ll work collaboratively to find an option that feels supportive, respectful, and sustainable.

We’re committed to helping you access the care you need.

  • Biblical counseling is a process of focused discipleship through the application of God’s Word and walking in God’s Spirit when dealing with matters of life as a whole. In faith based counseling, this means providing science-based counseling techniques from a professional who shares and understands the faith of their client.

  • Because of the destructive consequences of divorce and our belief that divorce is not God’s best (Malachi 2:16), it is our position to not counsel divorce (Matthew 19:6), but will seek to restore every marriage, believing that God has the ability to heal every relationship, even those that seem beyond repair. (Mark 10:27) Although there are Biblical reasons for divorce, we encourage you to find help from your local church or other professionals if you intend to do that.

It is God’s will, as stated in the Bible, that the marriage covenant should be between a man and a woman for a lifetime. We believe this remains God’s perfect will for His children. When a marriage is struggling, we believe that God’s perfect will is for healing and restoration for the individuals and the marriage, and we will do everything we can to bring this about. For those who have experienced the pain of divorce, we will love, accept and minister to them as they work to see God’s healing in their life.
